Waste Operatives

Main purpose

Controlling and handling all waste produced on site, segregating out all recyclable materials into the appropriate waste streams

Responsibilities

1. To control, sort and prepare recyclables and other materials for processing through the correct waste streams.
2. Prepare, operate and maintain plant and equipment for the processing of recyclables and other materials.
3. Prepare compactors for collection by waste company.
4. Ensure recyclables are handled and stored safely, in the correct manner, using the correct equipment, prior to collection
5. To be proficient in the operation of machines including:
   1. Compactors
   2. Balers
   3. Drum Crusher
   4. Jet Washer
   5. Powered Pallet Trucks
   6. Forklift Truck
6. Demonstrate willingness and ability for effective teamwork, communication and co-operation with other internal departments.
7. Promote continuous improvement and take a vigilant approach to identifying and solving problems following a logical thought process.
8. All waste to be handled in a hygienic manner.
9. Cleanliness and tidiness of waste area, machinery and car parks.
10. Maintain standards of service when dealing with other internal departments.
11. Management of bins and recycling receptacles.
